This page summarises entry status for ordinary Indonesian passports to the countries we re-checked against each country’s official source on 23 October 2026. An earlier version listed 76 countries from secondary compilations; several rows turned out to be wrong (among them South Korea, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates, Australia and New Zealand), so countries we have not re-checked were removed from the table. Visa rules change quickly — always check the official source again before you buy.

Vietnam. Indonesia’s Safe Travel service lists 30 days visa-free, but there are reports of a 2026 change to the permitted stay that we could not find on an official Vietnamese page. Confirm with Vietnam’s immigration authority before you travel.

Countries not in the table

For other countries we deliberately show no status because we have not re-checked them. Official starting points: the per-country pages of Safe Travel, Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then the destination’s immigration authority or embassy. For the Schengen Area, the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada, Indonesian passport holders need to apply for a visa before travel.

Terms used

Visa-free. You may enter without applying for a visa in advance. Immigration officers can still ask for a return ticket, proof of accommodation and funds, and can still refuse entry.

Visa on arrival. A visa issued at the airport or border post on arrival, only for the nationalities and conditions the destination sets.

E-visa / electronic authorisation. Applied for online before travel through the destination’s official portal. Schemes such as K-ETA (Korea) or the ETA (Australia) are limited to certain nationalities — Indonesian passports are not covered by either.

Visa required. A visa applied for at an embassy, consulate or visa application centre before travel.

Changes worth knowing

  • United Arab Emirates (25 June 2026). The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced a 14- or 60-day visa on arrival for Indonesian nationals who hold a residence permit from certain countries. Without such a permit, a visa is still needed before travel.
  • Thailand (15 September 2026). The latest visa-exemption list from Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs includes Indonesia for tourist visits of up to 30 days.
  • China. The 240-hour visa-free transit programme now covers 65 ports of entry in 24 provinces; Indonesia is an eligible country.
  • South Korea. K-ETA applies only to visa-exempt countries designated by Korea. Indonesian passports still need a visa.

Passport validity

Many countries require a minimum remaining passport validity on the day you arrive, and airlines usually check it at check-in. The requirement differs by country, so check the destination’s rule and renew through Indonesian Immigration well before travel.

FAQ

How many countries are visa-free for Indonesian passports?

The number changes whenever a country changes its policy, so we no longer publish a total. The table on this page lists only the 16 countries we re-checked against official sources on 23 October 2026.

What is the difference between visa on arrival and an e-visa?

A visa on arrival is issued at the airport or border post when you land. An e-visa is applied for online before travel through the destination’s official portal. Both are available only to the nationalities and conditions the destination sets.

Can an Indonesian passport enter the Schengen Area without a visa?

No. Indonesian passport holders need a short-stay Schengen visa (Type C), applied for at the embassy or consulate of the main destination country.

Can Indonesian passport holders use the Saudi tourist e-visa?

No. The list of 68 countries eligible for the tourist e-visa at visa.visitsaudi.com does not include Indonesia (checked 23 October 2026). Apply through a Saudi embassy, or through the Umrah visa route for pilgrimage.

Can Indonesian passport holders use the Australian ETA?

No. The list of passports eligible for the ETA (subclass 601) on the Department of Home Affairs site does not include Indonesia; Indonesian passport holders need a Visitor visa (subclass 600).

Is China visa-free for Indonesian passports?

Indonesia is included in the 240-hour (10-day) visa-free transit programme through 65 designated ports, with a confirmed onward ticket to a third country, and in the visa-free scheme of up to 30 days for Hainan Province only. For ordinary visits elsewhere, check the current visa rules with the Chinese embassy.

Compare routes

Once the visa position is clear, compare routes and dates on Aviasales. Multi-stop routings are sometimes cheaper than nonstops, but check the transit country’s rules before buying separate tickets.
